ClarityCheck AI FAQ
About ClarityCheck AI
ClarityCheck AI is a set of writing tools: AI Detection, Plagiarism checking, and text rewriting. Paste or upload your text and get a score, with the passages that drove it marked in your own text.
Any text you can paste or upload: essays, coursework, cover letters, applications, blog posts, internal documents and more. Each scan can be from 50 to 15,000 words. If you paste or upload more than 15,000 words, only the first 15,000 are scanned and we tell you before you run the scan.
You can upload .doc, .docx, .pdf and .txt files, or paste your text directly. The 15,000-word limit applies to uploads too. Only the text is read. Images, formatting and embedded media are ignored.
Yes, 50 words. Below that the scan button is disabled. Short texts also give less reliable results, so a longer sample gives the scan more to work with.
Results are most reliable in English, Spanish, French, Italian, Russian, Arabic, Portuguese.
Pricing, credits and billing
Start with a 7-day trial for $0.99. The trial includes 2 credits, enough for 2 scans. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription renews at $29.99 every 28 days (every 30 days for users in Brazil) until you cancel. The price, trial length, renewal amount and renewal interval are shown on the payment screen before you pay. In some regions the trial payment is processed as two separate transactions: the first activates your trial and the second confirms that your payment method supports recurring charges. The total you pay is the same.
One submission uses 1 credit, whether it is a scan or a rewrite, for a text of up to 15,000 words. The monthly plan includes 20 credits per billing cycle. Your credits left and the date they refresh are shown in the account menu and on the report page, and “This scan uses 1 credit” is shown before you run a scan.
Yes. Unused credits carry over to your next billing cycle, up to a maximum balance of 100 credits. Credits you buy separately never expire and are used after your subscription credits. All your credits stay in your account after you cancel.
Yes. Every submission uses 1 credit, including a second check, such as a plagiarism scan after an AI scan, on text you already submitted. The free scan signals page you see before paying does not use a credit.
Each run of the Humanizer or the Plagiarism Remover uses 1 credit, the same as a scan. Both tools are only available once you have enough credits, and a run that fails to finish does not use any credits.
No. ClarityCheck AI is a separate subscription from ClarityCheck lookups, with its own credits. You can hold both on the same account, but credits from one cannot be used for the other.
When you run low, you can buy a credit pack from the credits screen. Packs of 10, 25 or 50 credits are available, with the price in your local currency shown before you pay.
You can cancel any time from your account settings or the Cancellation Hub, with no calls or emails needed and in no more steps than signing up took. Your plan stops renewing, and you keep access to the end of the period you have paid for. Any credits left in your account stay there and can still be used. We email you a confirmation.
Trial fees are refundable within 7 days of purchase if no credits have been used. Regular subscriptions are not refundable, except where the service was unavailable for more than 24 hours or there was a billing error such as a duplicate charge. Requests must be made within 30 days of the charge. Failed scans and rewrites do not use credits. See the Refund Policy for details.
Major credit and debit cards, plus the wallet options shown at checkout for your device. Methods your device cannot complete are not shown.
AI Detection
Passage rate is the share of your text that reads as machine-written. Document probability is how likely it is that the whole piece was generated. They answer different questions, so a mostly human draft with a few generated paragraphs shows a high rate on those passages and a lower probability for the whole text.
Results are probabilistic, not proof. Accuracy varies with length, language and how much the text was edited. Short passages and translated or paraphrased text are the least reliable. Use the highlighted sentences as a starting point for a conversation, not as a verdict.
Yes. No detector is definitive. Formal, structured or heavily edited human writing can score high, and generated text can score low. Treat the result as one input alongside everything else you know about the text.
Before you pay, we show an estimate based on writing patterns only: phrases AI tools use a lot. It does not call the detection service and does not use a credit, so your full scan may show a different result.
The detector is trained on the writing patterns of major generative systems and common rewriting tools. The list of models changes as coverage changes, and the report shows the current list.
Plagiarism
Your text is matched against web pages, academic databases and archived sources to find passages that appear elsewhere.
It is the share of your text that matches existing sources. A match is not automatically plagiarism: quotes, cited passages and common phrases also appear. Read each matched source in context.
It detects close rewording of indexed sources, but heavily reworked passages may not match. Treat the report as one signal, not as proof.
Text rewriting tools
They rewrite your own text. The Humanizer rewrites wording and sentence rhythm so the text reads more naturally, keeping its meaning, facts, numbers and quotes. The Plagiarism Remover rewrites only the passages a scan marked as matching a source, in new wording, and leaves the rest of your text exactly as you wrote it. You choose the tone and strength where offered.
No. We do not promise that rewritten text will pass any detector or plagiarism checker, or satisfy any school, publisher or employer. Rewrites can change length and wording, so read the result and check it still says what you mean before you use it.
Yes. Rewriting a passage does not remove the need to credit its source. Using someone else's ideas or words without attribution can still be plagiarism, whatever the wording.
Only if your school, publisher or employer allows it. You are responsible for following their rules. See the Terms and Conditions acceptable use section.
If a rewrite cannot be completed, you see an error and no credits are used.
Privacy and legal
Yes, for a limited time. Your text, results and any rewrites are kept in your account for 120 days so you can reopen your report, and then deleted. You can delete any scan, with its text and rewrites, at any time, and deletion is immediate and permanent. To produce your results, your text is sent to our service providers (see “Is my text shared with anyone else?”).
We do not use your text to train AI models, and our providers state that they do not either: PlagiarismSearch says submitted content is not used to train its AI models, and OpenAI says API data is not used for training by default.
Yes, with the providers that run the analysis and rewriting for us: PlagiarismSearch for AI detection and plagiarism checks, and OpenAI for the Humanizer and Plagiarism Remover. We do not sell your text.
No. PlagiarismSearch states that submitted content is not automatically made available as a source to its other customers.
Your text, results, rewrites, scores and dates are kept for 120 days in your account, then deleted. You can delete individual scans at any time from your account, and deletion is immediate and permanent.
No. Results are probabilistic and are not a basis for academic discipline, employment or contractual decisions on their own. Always review the text yourself.
Yes. You must be 18 or older to use ClarityCheck AI, and you confirm this when you give your email.
