All 900-Series Area Codes

Browse every active area code in the 900–999 range across the United States.

The 900-series is the newest large block in widespread active use, with most of its codes assigned during the overlay wave that began in the 1990s as cell phone adoption pushed numbering pools toward exhaustion in metro after metro. The result is a range that skews almost entirely modern: 917 and 929 in New York City, 972 in Plano, 949 in Irvine, 980 in Charlotte, 984 in Raleigh, and 943 in Atlanta were all introduced as overlays atop existing codes rather than to cover new territory. Two notable exceptions sit in the group's geographic outliers — 907 covers all of Alaska as the state's only area code, and 939 serves Puerto Rico as the overlay companion to 787. The range also includes a few non-US entries shared through the North American Numbering Plan, listed without city detail since this directory focuses on US numbers. Among major metros, 917 in New York carries particular brand recognition as the city's mobile-first overlay, while smaller-metro codes like 906 in Marquette, 920 in Green Bay, 970 in Fort Collins, and 989 in Saginaw round out the geographic mix.
